No casualties or damage to property was reported in the tremor which, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), originated in Parachinar, the administrative capital of Kurrum Agency.
The earthquake struck 35 kilometres deep in the ground, said the PDMA. It shook Kurram Agency, Swat, Dir, Malakand, and Peshawar districts, and surrounding areas.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), it was a 4.6-magnitude quake with its epicenter 19 kilometres away from the Jalalabad city of Afghanistan.
The USGS further said that the earthquake struck at 9:34 pm (PST). The PDMA added that it had not received any reports of casualties or damage to property from anywhere in the affected regions.
