Zoology congress: Sharing of knowledge, experiences urged

MUZAFFARABAD:

Conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops provide a platform to scientists to share their knowledge and research experiences.

This was said by AJKU Vice-Chancellor Dr Habibur Rehman at the conclusion of a three-day international congress of zoology that concluded at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJKU) on Friday.

About 800 people, including renowned scientists, senior academics and students from across the country and abroad participated in the conference.

He said academic gatherings are essential for the promotion of education and knowledge. As knowledge knows no boundaries, it is only through knowledge and education that our nation’s many dilemmas can be solved, he added.

He urged students to follow the footsteps of renowned scientists and work hard to win similar laurels.  He said to the students, “Dream big and then work hard to transform them into reality.”

In his remarks about a cultural show held last night, he said, “It was a manifestation of our youth’s resolve. Students from across the country displayed that
they belong to different regions of Pakistan yet they
are one.”

He added, “It showed how strong our country really is. It sent a clear and loud message that the youth of Pakistan is alive to the situation and has the courage, strength and resolve to set it right, if required.”

Prof Muhammad Afzaal Kazmi, president of Zoological Society Pakistan (ZSP) called the congress “a landmark in promoting research culture.” He lauded the hospitality and generosity of the faculty and students of the university, who put all their effort to make the congress a success.

ZSP General Secretary Prof Dr AR Shakoori appreciated the role of Prof Dr Sardar Muhammad Nasim Khan, chairman of Department of Zoology, his colleagues and particularly the role of VC Prof Rehman in holding one of the biggest congresses since the department’s inception in 1968.

Prof Khan thanked Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other donor agencies for sponsoring the event. He hoped that under the umbrella of HEC, AJKU would keep flourishing at an admirable pace.
