I have no sense of screenplay and scripts: Shah Rukh Khan
Actor delves into his selection of roles, failures and bond with Kajol and Karan Johar
'Bollywood badshah' Shah Rukh Khan massively disappointed his fans with his stint in his last outing Jab Harry Met Sejal. While he was bashed by the audiences and critics alike, the Raees star has now opened up about the reason he made such awful choices, reported India Times.
At a press conference for Ittefaq, Shahrukh who is co-producing the film confessed that he doesn’t have a sense of script and screenplay. While talking about his camaraderie and long association with film-maker Karan Johar, the Dilwale star said, “I have no sense of script. Karan narrated me some other film and we landed up doing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He didn’t even narrate me Kal Ho Na Ho. I don’t have the sense of screenplay and script.”
I want my kids to make a name for themselves: Shah Rukh Khan on nepotism
Mocking himself, Shah Rukh added, “That could be the best headline – Shah Rukh Khan does not have sense of script and screenplay that is why he makes such awful films.” The 51-year-old was also asked about working with Karan again to which he said, “We have been discussing a lot of ideas over the past two years, but haven’t finalised anything. People have always said we make similar kind of films, so next time we will do something that makes us and everyone happy”.
Shah Rukh also turned nostalgic on his long friendship with Karan. “I first worked with Yashji in Duplicate (1998) and then the long association started with Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). Over the years, my equation with Karan has seen different shades of love. Friend, brother, a connection at higher levels. And then situations where we supposedly fought. It irritates me as a matter of fact to keep on explaining that I love Karan, I love Hiroo aunty and I love his two little babies [Roohi and Yash].”

He even took a sly dig at his fluctuating relationship with Kajol. “There are times when we are not doing a film together. I do something with someone Karan doesn’t get along with, and there are lots of people at different times that Karan doesn’t get along with and then gets along with. I can’t keep tab of his good and bad times with people and so fortunately or unfortunately I go on to be working with people he must be hating at some point of time, but that has never come between the relationship we share”.
Apart from Shah Rukh and Karan, Sonakhsi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna were also present at the press conference. Ittefaq is slated to release on November 3, 2017.
