An Egyptian TV host cut off her hair on her show to express solidarity with the policemen killed in a recent shootout with terrorists near Cairo.

Manal Agha, during the show "Fish, Milk and Tamarind" aired on a TV channel "AlHadath Alyoum", turned so emotional while talking about the Egyptian security forces' sacrifices to eliminate terrorism that she took out a pair scissors and cut off her locks.

Agha also vowed that she would not let her hair grow long until the terrorists who killed the policemen were arrested and brought to justice. She added that she could never forget the security forces' sacrifices.

Sixteen Egyptian policemen were killed in a shootout with militants on the road between Cairo and the Bahariya oasis in the Western Desert over a week ago.

Earlier this month, Agha had appeared on the show with bruises on her face to highlight the issue of domestic abuse.

The TV host said she had considered cancelling the show that day, but decided that she would not "bury her head in sand".

She told her audience that marriage was a relationship based on love and compassion, and not humiliation and abuse. Agha added that she had decided to take a stand against domestic violence and encourage other women who were also victims.

However, at the end of the show, Agha revealed that the bruises were just make-up and she had used it to highlight the plight of domestic abuse victims.
