ISLAMABAD: People living on both sides of the Line of Control and rest of the world will observe black day today (Friday) against Indian occupation of Jammu & Kashmir since the last 70 years.

The day of October 27 is observed as black day by the people of Jammu & Kashmir every year to mark extreme resentment and indignation over the continued unlawful and forcible occupation of Jammu Kashmir state by the Indian tyrannical forces.

India warned against targeting Pakistani civilians

On the occasion, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, while strongly condemning Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir, on Thursday urged the international community to take notice of the situation as “Indian forces used pellet guns on innocent Kashmiris.

“Pakistan expresses solidarity with its Kashmiri brethren and has always extended moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiri people,” the prime minister said while chairing a meeting of the Kashmir Council.

He said the Kashmir cause was a heroic struggle which would be remembered for times to come. “Pakistan has raised the issue of Kashmir at every forum,” he added.

The prime minister reiterated Pakistan's commitment and support for the development of Kashmir. “We need to prove with our actions that we are focused on the development and welfare of the Kashmiri brethren,” the prime minister remarked and directed for holding the sessions of Kashmir Council regularly.

During the meeting, the Kashmir Council offered special prayers for the martyrs of the Kashmir cause.

Meanwhile in his message on the occasion of Kashmir Black Day observed every year on October 27, the prime minister said denial of the right to self-determination to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the last seven decades raises questions about the conscience of the international community and the United Nations.

“The worst form of state terrorism is being perpetrated against defenceless people of occupied Kashmir to silence and crush their legitimate struggle, in complete disregard to international human rights and humanitarian laws. The entire Indian state machinery is involved in these crimes against humanity.

“There is a need for an independent, transparent and fair investigation into these human rights violations under the UN,” he said in his message.

“Pakistan has supported the proposal of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for sending a Fact-Finding Mission to Jammu and Kashmir. “We reiterate our call and hope that the international community will pay heed to the miseries and sufferings of the Kashmiri people,” he added.

Pakistan should adopt innovative strategies to highlight brutalities in IoK

The prime minister described October 27, 1947 as one of the darkest days of human history and said, “This day marks a grave human tragedy in occupied Jammu & Kashmir when 69 years ago Indian occupation forces landed in Srinagar to occupy, subjugate, oppress, and terrorise innocent Kashmiris. This pattern of brutalities continues with impunity even today.”

“We pay homage to the sacrifices of our brethren in IoK and reiterate our unflinching and steadfast moral, diplomatic and political support for the just cause of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. This support will continue till the realization of the lawful right to self-determination of the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” he added.
