Deputy Director (Food) Sardar Saifullah Shamim Joiya said that 11 wheat procurement centres had been established in Faisalabad. He said 130,000 lakh tonnes of wheat would be purchased at these centres.
He said 15 procurement centres in Jhang would purchase 171,000 tonnes of wheat, six at Toba Tek Singh would purchase 88,000 tonnes of wheat and five in Chiniot would purchase 51,000 tonnes of wheat.
He said more than 5.3 million gunny bags would be distributed among the farmers. Of this, 1.91 million were allocated for Faisalabad, 1.88 million for Jhang, 1.025 million for Toba Tek Singh and 559,830 for Chiniot. He said patwaris of the Revenue Department had been directed to be present at the procurement centres to facilitate the farmers.
He said monitoring teams and focal persons had also been deployed at the centres to ensure a fair procurement process.
