Earth Day: 1122 plans Rescue Earth walks

People can participate in Earth Day by planting a sapling. avoid unnecessary use of resources and minimise pollution.

LAHORE:

The Rescue 1122 Emergency Service has arranged for walks and other events in all districts of the Punjab today to mark Earth Day, said a press release.

Rescue Earth Awareness Walks, seminars and extra curricular competitions are being held all over the Punjab to raise awareness about the impact of global warming.

“Increasing number of emergencies and disasters like floods, tsunamis, land slides and acid rain are taking place due to environmental changes, global warming, ozone depletion, pollution and wasteful use of energy,” said the press release.

In Lahore, the Rescue Earth Awareness Walk will start at 10 am from Ferozepur Road. Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer appealed to people to contribute by planting a sapling for the Rescue Mother Earth campaign during Earth Week and to avoid the unnecessary use of resources and minimise pollution.
