LAHORE:
Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Sirajul Haq has said that general elections 2018 must be held on time without derailing the accountability process.

“Delaying polls will plunge the country into serious crisis,” said the JI chief while addressing a large gathering at the JI’s Azme Nau Convention at Wahdat Road on Sunday.

Haq said the nation was not satisfied with the accountability of Nawaz Sharif alone and wanted all those named in the Panama leaks to be held accountable.

“The masses are looking forward to the NAB [National Accountability Bureau] and if the new NAB chairman also adopts the same attitude as that of his predecessors, the masses will besiege the rulers and nobody will be able to stop a revolution,” he warned.

Polling stations or constituency won’t do, JI demands re-elections in all of Karachi

For a corruption-free Pakistan, he said the JI would gather 100,000 youth at the lawns of Minar-e-Pakistan on 23rd March next year.

The JI chief also said the Nawaz Sharif government had acquired billions in loans during the last four years, but the roads of Punjab looked like the ruins of Mohenjo Daro.

“Sharif has been the prime minister thrice but his dictatorial attitude has ruined democratic institutions,” he said, adding that now he was fighting for selfish ends under the cover of protest over the court’s decision.

He said there was no room for agents of the international establishment and the US in the country, adding that either they would have to return the plundered wealth or flee the country.

He said these were the rulers who had allowed CIA agent Raymond Davis to return home although he had killed three innocent persons in the city.

When JI was in charge, Karachi was peaceful: Haq

Corruption was the gift of the governments of Sharif and Zardari, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said the large gathering at the convention proved that the JI was alive in the city and it represented people of all walks of life.

He said that the mandate of the people of Lahore had been stolen in every election.

He said it had been established by now that the corrupt and incompetent people representing the Punjab capital only brought a bad name to the city. He said that the JI alone had the capability and the will to bring about a change and it was the responsibility of the people of Lahore to obstruct the election of thieves and those working against the country’s ideology to the corridors of power.

Speaking on the occasion, JI Punjab chief Mian Maqsood Ahmed said that JI had been serving the people of the country from the inside and outside of the assemblies.
