Workshop on gender-inclusive growth kicks off
Womenx Project Manager Maria Omar said that among the top 100 largest companies of the world less than five percent women reach the top leadership positions. She also urged women to fill the gap by equipping themselves with the required management skills.
Criticising women’s lack of participation in the labour force, Omar said, “science is in the classroom but practice is in the market, so women need to synchronise themselves with both knowledge and skill in constant manner.”
She said that Womenx provided a platform for the likeminded women to collaborate with each other.
Dr Hammad Badar said that the women comprise 50% of the total population and are therefore crucial to the country’s progress and need to be brought into the economic mainstream.
TEDx to focus on women empowerment, innovation
Commending women for proving their mettle in “almost every field”, Dr Mubashar Mahdi said that education works as an engine of growth to address social and economic issues.
Project Coordinator Hania Mudassar hoped that the participants of the ‘1st cohort’ would be role model for their followers. She acknowledged the enthusiastic participation of girls seeking management training.
