Poll preparations: PTI forms board for selecting candidates from Sindh

Board will recommend names of potential candidates from the province for the next general elections

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced forming an 11-member parliamentary board on Friday for awarding party tickets in Sindh just as it formed similar bodies in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The board will recommend names of potential candidates from the province for the next general elections. A formal notification was issued on Friday by the PTI.

The parliamentary board will forward nominations to the party chief who would finalise the candidates.

The board comprises party’s Chairman Imran Khan, Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Secretary-General Jehangir Khan Tareen, MNAs Asad Umar and Dr Arif Alvi, and senior provincial leaders Ali H Zaidi, Liaquat Jatoi, Iftikhar Soomro, Imran Ismael, Firdous Naqvi and Haleem Adil Sheikh.

The party has already formed parliamentary boards for Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The parliamentary board for Balochistan will be announced later, the PTI spokesperson said.

The 10-member ticket-awarding board for Punjab includes Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehangir Khan Tareen, secretary information Shafqat Mehmood, MNA Asad Umar, presidents of all four regions in Punjab, including Amir Kiyani (North), Aleem Khan (Central), Rai Hassan Nawaz (West), Ishaq Khaqwani (South), and Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar.

An 11-member parliamentary board for KP consists of Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehangir Khan Tareen, MNA Asad Umar, CM KP Pervaiz Khattak, Speaker of KP Assembly Asad Qaiser, additional secretary-general Atif Khan, head of Peshawar Region Shah Farman, head of Hazara region Zar Gul Khan, head of Malakand region Mehmood Khan and president of south region Ali Ameen Gandapur.

These boards will receive applications from candidates seeking PTI tickets to contest next general elections. A senior PTI leader said that the parliamentary boards would formally start working from next month.
