Mahira Khan is definitely a force to be reckoned with. While the starlet is all set to make a brilliant comeback to the Pakistani film industry with Shoaib Mansoor helmed Verna, she was also in an array of controversies over the leaked pictures with Bollywood heartthrob, Ranbir Kapoor.

After weeks of silence, the Raees star has broken her silence and given her stance on the matter. The two were spotted taking a smoke break outside a hotel in New York, which led to fans speculating.

Mahira and Ranbir share more than a casual friendship, claims Indian publication

Speaking to the Express News at the trailer launch of her upcoming film, Mahira asserted, “I am a very careful person otherwise. People ask me why I do not do this in films and it's simply because I do not want to. Why should I do anything to show the world?” she said.

About meeting Ranbir she said, “It is my personal life and it is very normal for a boy and girl to hang out.” However, she said she has learned from the incident. “Nowadays, the media is not only present at events but everywhere. So, I have learnt from it (the incident),” she said.

Soon after the pictures surfaced, Mahira's fans came to her support and called the trolls out for not judging Ranbir the same way as they were judging the Bol actor.

Very unfair the way Mahira is being judged: Ranbir Kapoor

Previously, in a statement published by NDTV, Ranbir said, “I’ve gotten to know Mahira in a personal capacity over the last few months."

"She is somebody who I admire and respect, for her achievements and even more for the person she is. It is very unfair the way she is being judged and spoken about. What is also sad is the inequality in judgment just because she is a woman. I request you to stop the negativity and move on with your beautiful God-gifted lives. Peace and love. PS: Both smoking and hate are injurious to health,” said the Tamasha actor.

Mahira made her Bollywood debut in 2017 with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees.

Bobb | 6 years ago | Reply @Dr. Salahuddin Khan: Agree with you. It is entirely Mahira's personal matter who she hangs out with as long as it does not bring shame to her friends & relatives. She is at a stage when her career is all that matters to her...even if it brings embarrassment to her community or country. The best thing is that no one should have enough time to focus on her. Hate comes not from those who do not think much of her but those who deep in their heart like her and would love an opportunity of being with her.
