Sexual Assault: 70-year-old arrested for attack on niece

70-year-old arrested after confessing to raping seven-year-old niece while she was home alone.

LAHORE:

A 70-year-old man has been arrested and confessed to raping his seven-year-old niece in Christian Colony, Shalimar police area, the police said.

According to the girl’s father, the accused raped his daughter while she was home alone on April 17.

SP Capt (r) Liaqat Ali Malik said the father reported the crime to the police on Wednesday and the accused was arrested the same day.

The SP said the child had not initially told anyone about the incident, but complained to her mother about a pain.

The mother took her to a local clinic, where a doctor after examining her told the father that she had been raped. He said that when the police asked the girl what had happened, she said “wadda abbu” had attacked her and asked her not to tell anybody. He had also given her some money.

Malik said the accused was a widower and lived alone. He said he appeared to be a habitual offender. He would be produced before a judicial magistrate for remand.
