Rescue 1122 celebrates 13th anniversary

LAHORE: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has completed 13 years of services delivery in all 36 Districts of Punjab on Saturday and during this span of time the emergency service rescued around 5.2 million emergency victims of different emergencies. This was disclosed by Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer during a ceremony held at Rescue 1122 Headquarters, Thokar Niaz Beg.

He congratulated all the rescuers especially the pioneers upon completion of 13 years of the service with dedication and providing the right to timely emergency care without discrimination to millions of victims of emergencies and disasters and also proactively working for Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction.

He also voiced hope that all the rescuers would always maintain the standards of this emergency service with hard work, commitment and dedication. While recalling his memories, Dr Naseer said the Punjab Emergency Service was started as an Emergency Ambulance Service as a pilot project from Lahore back in 2004.

“Keeping in view failure of repeated attempts to revitalise and modernise the existing emergency services, everyone was very sceptical about the project’s success.
