Fake degree: IHC reserves verdict in case against Sukhera

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reserved its verdict in the fake degree case against Zain Sukhera, a key accused in the Hajj corruption case and a friend of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son.

During the hearing of the case, Sukhera’s lawyer argued that only a university could declare a degree bogus and the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) did not have the authority in this matter.

The FIA assistant director told the court that the FIR had been filed after thorough investigations in the case.

The court adjourned the hearing till April 22 after hearing arguments from both sides. Sukhera is on bail till a final verdict is given on the dismissal of the FIR.

Sukhera, a former consultant in Ministry of Information and Technology, was accused of involvement in the Hajj scam and holding a fake LLB degree from Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan. A case was registered against him on November 12, 2010.
