Democracy will be defended whether Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi ‘stays or leaves’ the PM House, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan vowed on Friday.
Speaking at a public rally here, Khan alleged that chaos was orchestrated in the accountability court during the hearing of graft cases on Friday to help the Sharif family protect itself from accountability.
“They [PML-N] must now realise that it will be held accountable and the money looted by the Sharifs will be brought back to Pakistan,” he said.
He warned the PM that his party would launch an agitation if justice was hindered. “We will take to the streets and protect democracy and the future of the nation even if it means ending the federal government,” he said.

The PTI chief alleged that state institutions, including the judiciary and the armed forces, were being defamed because the Sharif family feared accountability. He claimed that $10 billion was laundered annually which could be spent on education, health and other sectors, and help create new jobs.
He said both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, the PPP co-chairman, had looted and laundered money.
About the plans to merge the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Khan wondered why Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mehmood Khan Achakzai, respectively the chiefs of the JUI-F and the PkMAP, were against the move.
“Half of Fata residents had to leave their homes… we have decided to take up the case of Fata’s merger with K-P so that the Frontier Crime Regulations (FCR) is done away with,” he said, adding that once merged with K-P, Fata would have greater access to justice and education.

Speaking on the occasion, K-P Chief Minister Parvez Khattak said that the ANP had looted the province and Fazlur Rehman could be hired by anybody.
“[Peace in] K-P was destroyed. There were bombings across the province almost every day, but things visibly changed once the PTI took over. Now, even those who were previously unable to leave their homes are able to hold public gatherings,” he said referring to ANP president Asfandyar Wali Khan.
He said that Fazlur Rehman always struggled for Islamabad rather that Islam, adding that anyone could see reforms in police, health and education sectors.
Earlier, ANP’s Arbab Najeeb and PML-N district president Abdul Sattar announced joining the PTI.
