216 doctors for remote Balochistan districts

Baloch said latest machinery and medicines were available in all government hospitals

QUETTA: Balochistan Health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch said on Wednesday that to provide adequate health facility in remote districts of the province, his department is going to appoint 216 doctors on ad hoc basis.

“The new appointees are directed to make sure their presence in their respective districts on emergency basis to provide better health care to the people of Balochistan,” Rehmat Saleh Baloch said while talking to the media.

Balochistan hospitals to be automated

He said: “216 doctors are going to be appointed in the health department on ad hoc basis and soon they will perform their duties in remote districts of the province.

“People have a very important role to monitor the doctors’ presence in their districts and lodge complains if any doctor shows negligence in duty,” Baloch said.

The appointed doctors will be posted in Quetta, Musa Khail, Zhob, Washuk, Shaheed Sikandarabad, Jhal Magsi, Naseerabad, Suhbat Pur, Duki, Sherani, Kharan, Naushki, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Gawadar, Jeewni, Awaran and other remote parts of Balochistan.

About the appalling healthcare system in the province, the health minister said, unfortunately we had to purge numerous flaws in the health system that was completely destroyed by the previous regimes.

“A majority of doctors were found absent from their duties and there was a culture of sacred cows in the health department,” he said, adding, “From the very start we have told all doctors to be punctual on their assigned duty.”

Baloch said latest machinery and medicines were available in all government hospitals.
