Sindh Rangers' policing powers extended for another 90 days

KARACHI:
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has extended Pakistan Rangers special policing powers for another 90 days in the province.

According to spokesperson for CM House, the period of special powers granted to Rangers was set to expire on October 12. However, on Wednesday, CM Shah signed the summary regarding a 90-day extension in policing powers, Express News reported.

As per the special powers granted to Rangers under the Anti-Terrorism Act, the paramilitary force, which has had a presence in Karachi for several years, can take independent action against criminals and suspected terrorists.

Earlier in July, the Rangers' power had been extended for three months until October.
