KARACHI: A mother of seven children was axed to death on Tuesday by her husband after an altercation at their home in Baldia Town.

Meanwhile, a teenage girl was found dead inside an underground water tank at her house in Docks area.

A 40-year-old woman, identified as Shamim Bibi, wife of Muhammad Buksh, was killed inside her house located in Sector A, Baldia Town.

According to SHO Ghaffar Korai, Buksh hit Shamin with an axe and a hammer, killing her on the spot. Her body was shifted to Civil hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police claimed to have arrested the accused husband and recovered the axe and hammer used in the murder. A case has been registered, while further investigation is under way.

In a separate incident, a young girl was found dead from an underground water tank inside her house located in Macchar Colony within the limits of the Docks police station. The deceased was later identified as 15-year-old Rahima, daughter of Fazal Kareem.

According to the police, Rahima was alone at her house when the incident occurred, adding that her mouth and hands were tied with a scarf which suggested that she was murdered. The body was shifted to Civil hospital for medico-legal formalities where the doctors reserved her postmortem report. The police have registered a case while further investigation is under way.
