While there are thousands of languages in the world which are written and spoken, there are only a few whose creation was well documented. One of these is the Korean language and its script.
“Today Korea has 100 per cent literacy rate and this all happened due to the vision of King Sejong,” said Kim Jin Wook, the Korean Embassy Charge de Affairs Embassy while visiting the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Monday to attend an event to mark Hanguel Day (Korean Language Day).
The event was organised by the King Sejong Institute and the Korean Department of NUML.
Wook said that King Sejong, who created the Korean alphabets, helped educate the Korean people and develop the Korean nation.
Appreciating NUML’s role in promoting Korean language, Wook said that the Korean Embassy will further enhance interactions with NUML in future.
