The world knows that what’s happening is revenge not accountability, said Maryam Nawaz on Sunday, referring to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references filed against her family.

Speaking to media in London before leaving for Pakistan, Maryam said the Sharif family will show up in the court and make use of the justice system.

She and her husband have been summoned in an Islamabad accountability court on Monday.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader further said that she and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar were heading back to Pakistan out of respect for the law and Constitution, while her brothers Hussain and Hassan Nawaz would make their own decision to return to Pakistan.

“The world has come to know that what’s happening is not accountability, but revenge,” she said. “We will present ourselves in court hearing and use the justice system.”

“The things that have been happening for past year and a half are out in the open now,” she added.

The former first daughter further said that the 2018 general elections will take place at their set time and yet another democratically-elected government will complete its tenure.

Maryam said she was surprised that people who have nothing to do with PLM-N are upset over Nawaz being re-elected president of the party.
