ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the 18th Amendment Implementation Commission Senator Raza Rabbani has reiterated that all stakeholders will be taken on board after legislation to define the status of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The 18th Amendment Implementation Commission had met on Monday to discuss the restructuring. “We are working on a draft law for the constitution of a new institution in place of the HEC,” Rabbani told reporters. “All stakeholders will be consulted before it is finalised,” he said, adding that the draft bill would soon be presented before the National Assembly. However, the usually cool-minded Rabbani was sharp in his criticism of what he called “negative forces” trying to create a “storm in a teacup” over the HEC issue. “The commission’s scope is far beyond the HEC issue, but this small problem is being blown out of proportions,” he said.
