Wheat: PASSCO arranges Rs35b

Major General Shafqat Sohail says Passco would wholly focus on the low end farmers.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (Passco) has arranged Rs35 billion to buy wheat, according to Major General Shafqat Sohail. Sohail said on Monday that Passco would wholly focus on the low end farmers so that they do not suffer any kind of loss, a private news channel reported.

He said that Passco would buy wheat from 15 districts of Punjab and three districts of Sindh, and 201 centers had been established in this regard. He said that talks were underway with Bangladesh, Oman, Egypt and Afghanistan on import of wheat.
