LAHORE: The doctor’s community should use all available resources to create awareness among patients about dengue, a potentially fatal disease.

This was stated by Post Graduate Medical Institute (PMGI) Principal Dr Ghiasun Nabi Tayyab. The Punjab government was dealing with the issue on a war-footing basis and the disease had been controlled to the maximum, he said.

“As many as 450,000 people have been benefitted from the website of the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) which has been launched to create awareness among the public on the dengue issue. This website is www.lgh.org.pk and the Facebook page is www.facebook.com/lghlahore.” He said the latter is being being liked by more and more people who are learning important information about the virus.

Dr Tayyab said the website was playing an important role in preventing people from dengue, especially in changing weather.

He said that training of doctors was also being carried, while lectures had also been scheduled for new doctors and paramedical staff as a regular feature. He added that on these pages of the website and Facebook, other diseases were also being added and special pages would be made so that citizens could take information while sitting at home rather than visiting a hospital.

The PGMI principal said that the step was helpful at the national and international level. He urged every person to play a role in controlling dengue and other diseases.

He said all patients and their attendants were being kept informed on dengue precautions. He said that proper record had been maintained by the hospital of all the dengue patients and contact was also made with the concerned patients as and when required.

Dr Tayyab urged citizens to ensure a hygienic atmosphere in their streets and houses and play their individual role against the virus.
