GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Mehdi Shah made surprise visits to a number of places in Gilgit on Monday, creating panic among officials who rushed to their respective areas, sources said. The CM visited the main bus terminal at Jutial amid tight security, where he inspected the arrangements and facilities for passengers. He directed the concerned authorities to pay attention to cleanliness and the security of passengers. Chief minister Shah went to the under-construction fruit market and inspected the progress on the work. Officials in the chief minister secretariat said that the purpose of the Shah’s visits was to address public grievances that have come to the fore. The chief minister later visited a government hospital at Kashrote. Most of the doctors were absent when the chief minister came. “The chief minister talked with a doctor in harsh tone,” a patient told The Express Tribune. He said that the visit of chief minister came at around 10am, when most officials are on their way to their offices.
