Saudi university to open women driving school

The decision comes in line with the Royal directive to allow women to drive in Saudi Arabia

Princess Nourah Bin Abdulrahman University announced on Saturday that they are ready to establish a driving school for women in cooperation with the associated authorities.

Women in Saudi Arabia to be allowed to drive from age 18

The Saudi university made the announcement on their Twitter account, adding that their decision comes in line with the Royal directive to allow women to drive equally with their male peers in the Kingdom, reported Arab News.

King Salman issued orders last Tuesday, according to a royal court statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

"The royal decree will implement the provisions of traffic regulations, including the issuance of driving licenses for men and women alike," the SPA shared.

The decree further orders the formation of a ministerial body to give advice on the practicalities of the command issued within 30 days and to ensure the full implementation of the order by June 2018.
