PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a potential terror bid, arresting three terrorists and confiscating six kilogrammes of explosives from their possession on Peshawar's Ring Road near Toll Plaza.

In a hand out issued on Wednesday, the CTD claimed that three terrorists Miner Shakir, Faridoon and Arifullah were trying to transport an explosive device weighing six kilogrammes in a car when police caught them red-handed in Achini Khwar area of the Sarband police station.

“These people belong to a banned terrorist outfit and they were going to use the device in a terrorist attack in Peshawar during Muharram,” a police official told The Express Tribune.

The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) defused the explosive device.

Security has been tightened across the country and law-enforcement remain on tight alert for Muharram.
