Eight unidentified bodies were found from fields near Attock Haji Shahroad, 8 kilometres away from Attock on Sunday morning, according to the police. The police was informed about the bodies by a resident of the area and the bodies were taken to DHQ Hospital Attock for postmortem after being recovered.
District Police Officer Attock Dr Akhtar Abbas told the media that victims were probably killed at a different location almost four days ago and were later thrown into the fields.
The identities of the victims could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. However, according to the DPO they were all bearded men. The DPO further added that the victims were probably not residents of Attock district. The victims were believed to be in their early to late twenties and the exact cause of death would be ascertained after the legal formalities had been carried out.
Meanwhile, the medical superintendent of DHQ Hospital told the media that from the autopsy of two of the deceased; it came to light that they had been strangled. The act was not deemed to be a terrorist one and further investigation was under way, according to the DPO.
