Injured officials were on their way to Torkham from Peshawar
PESHAWAR:
At least two customs officials were injured when a remote-controlled bomb, targeting their vehicle, went off near the Pak-Afghan highway in Khyber Agency.
An official of the political administration told The Express Tribune that the injured men were part of the customs office and were on their way to Torkham from Peshawar to perform their duties.
5 martyred in IED attack on peace committee volunteers
Soon after the incident, the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger. Meanwhile, a search operation was also launched in the area, confirmed the political administration official.
Last week, a twin grenade attack left six security men and several civilians injured on the Torkham border. A bomb targeting volunteers of a pro-government peace committee in May this year also killed at least five people in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency.
The recently launched Operation Khyber-IV is also simultaneously continuing in the agency in a bid to clear the area of terrorists.
