A Muslim taxi-driver in Britain has been vindicated in a case wrongfully accusing him of molestation, the Telegraph reported.

The Leeds Crown Court, on Monday, jailed a criminology student, Sophie Pointon for falsely claiming to be sexually assaulted after the father-of-five refused to accept a £10 note covered in oil.

According to Mirror, the driver described the ramifications of the false allegation in a statement. "I am now extremely reluctant to take lone females in case I am accused again.”

"The girl who accused me is the same age as my own daughter - I cannot comprehend why she made this allegation,” he said. "I feel religiously tainted from this, and no help from the police or the courts can help that.”

On April 22, Pointon lodged a complaint with the police of sexual molestation in the back of the cab. The Telegraph said case was subsequently moved to the court.

The driver was kept in remand for six hours after Pointon signed a statement giving account of the incident. Due to the claim, he was also unable to work for four weeks.

Prosecuting lawyer, Kate Bisset said the driver remembered Pointon as being “extremely drunk” in his account of the incident. He said she threw a £10 note that was covered in oil from the kebab she was holding in her hand.

According to the driver, she became abusive and ran around the car opening doors after he refused to accept the note. "He did not think much of it at the time because such incidents with people who are intoxicated are not unusual,” said the prosecutor.

The driver’s account was backed by a recording of a conversation between the driver and a phone operator at his taxi office and a GPS tracker also disputed Pointon’s description of the night.

When the police challenged Pointon’s account of the incident, she broke down in tears, asking to drop the charges. She pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.

"Your malicious complaint has done a huge disservice to those seeking justice through the police and courts,” Judge Christopher Batty told Pointon.

Pointon has now been jailed for 16 months for claiming that the Muslim dad-of-five attacked her when he drove her home.
