A Snapchat story recently caught the attention of the Twitter sphere and let's just say the end-result was definitely not in favour of the Snapchat user. The story recorded a Sikh man sleeping on a plane while the user released a tirade of racist slurs towards the sleeping passenger - once noticed, the story caused much outrage on social media.

The man posted a story on his Snapchat about a fellow passenger wearing a turban and sporting a beard. The passenger appears to be sleeping in the screenshots and his appearance clearly shows that he belongs to the Sikh faith. However, the white man thinks the sleeping man is Muslim and, hence, begins a diatribe of racism towards the passenger.

On seeing the Sikh man for the first time, the white man said he might not be able to make it to his destination because 'a Muslim is on-board the flight with him'.

While he was posting Islamophobic slurs against the 'Muslim' man, another Sikh believer, who took notice of the man's story on Snapchat, tweeted against the racism that his fellow believer had to endure.

As his tweets went viral, many other social media users joined him in expressing their dismay over the racist Snapchat story and began sharing their own experiences of racist attacks, including those that Sikhs and Muslims in general have to go through in public.

Legions followed suit and expressed anger over the racial profiling of the Sikh passenger.

“I've known Sikhs to be lovely people, and even if you had been Muslim, it shouldn't have mattered.” said another woman.
