Fire safety: 20 filling stations issued notices

RAWALPINDI: In a ripple effect from the Awami Markaz blaze in Islamabad earlier this month, the Rawalpindi Civil Defence Department has issued notices to 20 petrol pumps and compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations operating without fire extinguishers in the garrison city.

Civil Defence Department District Officer Sanjeeda Khanum visited several public places including filling stations in different areas of the city and inspected security arrangements installed firefighting equipment.

Khanum said that they had launched a crackdown across the district against the petrol pumps, CNG stations, factories, buildings and other places operating without modern fire extinguishers.
