In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror tabloid, Kapoor said the stage where Raj Kapoor’s iconic films, such as Awaara, Shree 420, Mera Naam Joker and Ram Teri Ganga Maili, had been shot were destroyed.
The Mera Naam Joker mask and costumes worn by heroines in RK Studios’ productions, from Awaara (Nargis) to Aa Ab Laut Chalen (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), jewellery worn by Padmini in Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai and props such as spears and sabres were all incinerated.
Angels or Demons? How clown and joker emerge as a symbol of our times
“This is probably why they say that one should never put all eggs in one basket,” the famous actor told the tabloid. “But for us, this was our father’s legacy and it was a treasure trove.”
Kapoor also took to Twitter to express his feelings about the unfortunate inferno.
A Studio can be built again but the loss of the irreplaceable memorabilia and costumes of all RK Films,is tragic for all. Fire took it away
