ABBOTTABAD:
A group of hockey players and former Olympians and officials of the sport in Abbottabad on Friday protested against the impending ‘pitch invasion’ of the AstroTurf at the hockey stadium in the city by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) who are expected to hold a rally there today. Former players, office bearers of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association and a large number of hockey players criticised Abbottabad’s Deputy Commissioner and the Abbottabad Divisional Sports Officer allowing the stadium to be used for a public gathering of JI Chief Sirajul Haq. This will be the second public gathering on the Austro Turf within a week.
