KARACHI: Pakistan Development Squad (PDS) bagged their third consecutive victory as they defeated Oman 4-2 in the fourth match to win the five-match series at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex hockey ground in Muscat.

The green shirts, after drawing the first match, won the next three matches to grab an unassailable 3-0 lead against Oman. In the fourth match, Oman surprised everyone as they scored two opening goals in the first quarter to lead 2-0.

The visitors soon fought back gallantly and levelled the score 2-2 courtesy Samiuallah and Mubashir before the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the visitors add two more goals to their tally, scored by captain Shajeeh Ahmed and Atiq Arshad, which helped them take the game away from the hosts.

“We performed well under pressure in the first quarter when Oman was leading with two goals, but then we revised our game plan and executed it in a perfect way to level the scores,” Ahmed told The Express Tribune.

“Our team has been playing as a single unit and that was the key to our success. Each and every player is doing justice to their individual role which helped us create chances and score goals, while the defenders did a great job by not stopping opposition’s onslaughts,” he said.

The last match of the series will be played on Friday night.
