Punjab to get livestock technology park

UVAS VC says the facility will help develop several key sectors

LAHORE: The University of Veterinary Sciences will, in collaboration with other key stakeholders, establish a ‘livestock technology park’ at its Ravi campus in Pattoki.

Federal Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani and UVAS Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha visited the Ravi Campus. The minister was briefed about the services the varsity was rendering to the livestock sector in Punjab.

He visited various departments and clinics of UVAS and also met degree programme students.

The VC briefed the minister on UVAS’ academics, research, extension services, clinical facilities, development projects and various training programmes. He said in collaboration/partnership with Agriculture University Peshawar, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam Lasbela University of Agriculture, the Balochistan Water and Marine Sciences and Livestock and Dairy Development Department of UVAS will establish a livestock technology park on its Ravi Campus in Pattoki.

The aim is to usher in development of livestock breeding, genetics and genomics, disease control, livestock product development’ and livestock technology transfer etc.

He said that the technology park will contribute enormously to the development of livestock, dairy and related sectors by addressing their issues or problems. He said UVAS was providing practical knowledge to students and faculties, while professionals come from all over the Pakistan for the enhancement of clinical skills and research.
