Says PTI eradicated political influence from state institutions

PESHAWAR:  

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday took to using the slang term swine to describe corrupt officials in the provincial police force, emphasising “they have to be eliminated from the force”.

“[K-P] police still have pigs and these pigs are to be eliminated,” the chief minister said while addressing a ceremony in the District Council Hall Peshawar on Thursday.

“We can’t let the whole system damage due to a few pigs,” he added while praising the steps the PTI government has taken to reform the police department in the province.

He said the police department had improved a lot under his government, but “there still are black sheep that need to be expelled from the force”.

The chief minister claimed that previous governments did not want to bring any positive change in the system or to improve it.

“Politicians [belonging to opposition parties] are the enemies of the nation as they used their mandate for their personal benefits. Institutions got destroyed because of their wrongdoings,” Khattak said, adding, “If you don’t follow merit in recruitment to government institutions, they will certainly get destroyed.”

“People have voted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to power because it raised the slogan of change,” he said, adding, “We eradicated political influence from state institutions and made them autonomous.”

On the occasion, the chief minister also distributed keys of 119 shops of Bachat Bazaar among traders.

The CM also joked with the official photographer, saying, “You never took a good picture of me.”
