American jackal survives 35km ride 'embedded' in car grille in Canada

A Canadian woman met the surprise of her life when she found a coyote, whom she thought she had run over, 'embedded' in her car grille and blinking up at her.

Georgie Knox, resident of Airdrie, Alberta, was headed to work when the animal darted in front of the vehicle, the BBC reported.

In her Facebook post, Knox said she heard a "crunch" when she hit the animal, thinking she had killed it.

However, she was later flagged down by a construction worker at a traffic signal, and was told that the animal was alive in the front grille.

"When I got out to look, this poor little guy was looking up and blinking at me," she said on Facebook.



Knox had travelled "at highway speeds" all the way from Airdrie to Calgary, which is about about 35 kilometres. The woman notified wildlife officials who managed to rescue the animal.

"Miraculously, he was freed and had minimal injuries," she added.

The animal was subsequently given a clean bill of health and released. "Clearly mother nature has other plans for this special little guy!" Knox expessed.

Coyotes, an animal slightly larger than a red fox, are native to Alberta.
