Never really spoke to Harry Styles in One Direction: Zayn Malik

Rumour had it that Zayn quit One Direction due to a tiff between between Harry and him

It rather came as a shock when Zayn announced to quit the world famous boy band, One Direction.

It was then rumoured that the reason behind him leaving the band was a tiff between the members of the band and himself, more so, between him and 1D's main man, Harry Styles.

Zayn quit the boy band in 2015 and his departure was less than acrimonious.

Addressing the rumours regarding the fall out, Zayn exclusively reveals to Us Weekly, "To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band," he said. "So I didn't really expect that much of a relationship with him when I left. And I haven't had one to be honest."

When asked if the Pillowtalk crooner was open to the idea of One Direction reuniting, he asserted, "Who knows? I've said it before: Never say never," he tells Us. "If I wanted to come back in 10, 15 years time, then yeah, why not? I don't know. If I didn't want to [be in the band] then, I might not. It just depends on how I'm feeling at that time."

One of the reasons Zayn cited for leaving the band was that it all happened too fast, got real too quickly. He is now enjoying the slower pace as a solo artists.



We were basically going at, like, 500 miles per hour. We did everything to an extreme in the band," he reflects. "Now, it's not as full on, it's not as extreme, it's not as in-your-face. It's at my own pace. So this way, it feels 100 times more manageable. It's just easier. It's a lot less work."

On his work as a solo artist, Zayn confessed, "There's a lot of different kinds of music on it," he dishes to the magazine of his next effort. "I don't really like to stick to one genre and go off of that. I like to do whatever I'm feeling that day, whatever's feeling good. There's still a lot of soulful R&B tunes on there, there's some club tunes on there, there's some more obvious pop songs as well."

Zayn also revealed that he is not feeling the pressure of settling down and starting a family with his supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

The former One Direction star is waiting for the right time to propose to his Victoria's Secret Angel.



"I don't think things like that should be decided based on feeling pressure. When it's the right time and place, hopefully that will happen. Who knows when that will be," he laughed.

Malik said currently he has been busy working with some "big people" on his new record.

"We've got some big people working on stuff. There's soulful R&B tunes, club tunes, some pop songs. It's a progression," he said.

"My writing's grown and I feel like I've grown. I just wanted to get all of that in the album and give people some new music," he added.
