Equality Now: Pakhtuns demand equal treatment

Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party protests against discriminatory treatment of Pakhtuns.

RAHIM YAR KHAN:
Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) leaders have protested against the discriminatory treatment of Pakhtuns.

In Rahim Yar Khan, a regional conference was held by the PMAP and hundreds of people participated in the event.

Addressing the conference, former Balochistan Prisons minister Ubaidullah Sabit and other speakers said that in Balochistan, members of the Seraiki community and Punjabis are often seen holding high offices but the same is not the case in the Punjab.

“Pukhtun’s are facing great difficulties in getting CNIC cards and many members of the community were not provided Watan Cards,” he said.

The party said that they were campaigning for provincial unity and that the first step in this direction involved equal treatment of people belonging to different castes.

PMAP members said they were organising their party in Pakhtun dominant areas in the Punjab.
