Over 62% pass BISE intermediate exam

Position holders receive certificates, cash prizes and medals

LAHORE: As many as 62.48% candidates passed the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore Intermediate Part I & II (Annual) Examination 2017.

A total of 155,122 candidates appeared in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Annual Examination 2017, out of which 96,927 candidates passed the exam, bringing the total success rate to 62.48%.



The detailed results were announced on Tuesday at a local hotel at a prize distribution ceremony held in honour of the position holders. Punjab Higher Education Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani awarded the medals and certificates among the position holders. The first, second and third position holders received certificates along with cash prizes of Rs20,000, Rs15,000 and Rs10,000 for gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. Teachers were also awarded gold medals during the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Gillani congratulated the successful candidates and said that students were the guarantors of bright future of Pakistan. He said, “I hope that these young bright minds will work hard for the development and prosperity of the country.”

According to the detailed results, in the Pre-Medical Group a total of 28,092 candidates appeared for the exam and 23,851 were declared successful with a total pass percentage of 84.9%. In the Pre-Engineering Group, a total of 20,514 candidates appeared in the exam with 16,723 candidates passing the examination.



For the General Science Group, 20,474 candidates took the exam and 12,296 were able to pass the examination with the total pass percentage at 60.06%. In the Commerce Group, a total of 20,145 candidates appeared in the exam and 62.98% passed it. In the Humanities Group, 65,897 candidates appeared and 31,370 passed with the total pass percentage of 47.6%.

During the ceremony, medals and cash prizes were distributed among the position holders. The overall top position was secured by Muhammad Umer with 1,060 marks, while Minaam Farooq grabbed the overall second position with 1,059 marks and the third position was secured by Muhammad Umer Mukhtar with 1,052 marks.
