A woman is more than just a plus one: Priyanka comes to Meghan Markle's rescue
The Quantico star was quick to leap to her dear friend's defence
Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, 35, was quick to point out Meghan Markle's many personal accomplishments when she was quizzed about the starlet's Vanity Fair cover story in Toronto on Friday, reported Daily Mail.
Evidently disappointed that the article focused so heavily on the 36-year-old Meghan's highly-publicised romance with Prince Harry, the Baywatch star stated, "It would have been nice to write about her, not just her boyfriend."
Meghan Markle confesses she and Prince Harry are 'in love'
The Quantico star was quick to leap to her dear friend's defence. "I mean, she's an actor, she's an activist, she's a philanthropist," Priyanka added. "I don't [know] if I will get into trouble for this. I mean, she's on the cover of Vanity Fair."
Of the article's bias towards her romance rather than the Suits star's achievements, Priyanka stated, "It's just a little sexist. Look, I'm a feminist and I love boys, okay. 'The only thing I'm saying is that there needs to be a certain sense of equality, where a woman is not just a plus one, you know. It's nice to be your own identity too."
In May this year, Priyanka appeared on The Wendy Williams Show to promote her new film Baywatch. While there, Wendy took the opportunity to quiz the Bollywood icon on Meghan's love life, asking whether she could see Meghan and Prince Harry married in the future. "I hope so. She seems happy. I think they look great together," Priyanka said earlier.

But she shrugged off the host's suggestions that she could be approached to perform bridesmaid duties. "I don't know if I'm that close to her. I have known her two years now. We randomly met at a party and got on really well. So once I get the invite, I don't know, if I'm even invited."
The two stars seem to enjoy each other's company, often posing for Instagram snaps together when they meet up.
Has Meghan Markle been warned against marrying Prince Harry?
The Vanity Fair article did dedicate much of its space to Meghan's relationship with Prince Harry, 32. Probing about their relationship, Meghan said, "We're a couple. We're in love. I'm sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It's part of what makes it so special, that it's just ours."
She continued, "But we're happy. Personally, I love a great love story."
