SARGODHA: A woman was killed for trespassing through potato fields in Jauhrabad police limits on Monday.

Police said that accused Tahir Khan, a farmer, had an argument with Fatima Aziz as she entered his potato fields without his permission. Tahir also warned her of dire consequences if she did it again. However, when the arguments escalated, accused Tahir Khan and his friend Muhammad Amin clubbed Fatima Aziz to death.

The police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of deceased’s husband.

Meanwhile, three people were killed in a road accident at Kolo Morr on Hafizabad-Sargodha Road.  Rescue 1122 officials said a wagon bearing registration number LES-6322 was on its way to Gujranwala from Sargodha. However, when it reached near Kolo Morr, a speeding tractor trolley coming from an opposite direction collided with it.

As a result, three people were killed on the spot while 12 others were injured. The victims were identified as Muhammad Sarwar, Muhammad Imran, Bilawal, Shabbir Ahmad, Sarfraz Ahmad, Saifullah, Muhammad Aziz, Umair Ahmad, Ghulam Dastagir, Asia Bibi and others. The bodies and the injured were shifted to Trauma Centre, Hafizabad.

The police claimed to have arrested 17 drug pushers and seized narcotics and illegal weapons from them. A police spokesman said that police teams conducted raids at different hide outs and arrested 17 drug pushers. At least 750 grammes of hashish, 85 bottles of liquor, six pistols, two guns, two rifles bullets and cartridges were confiscated from their possession.

The accused were identified as Umar Farooq, Safeer, Noor Muhammad, Yousaf, Arif, Noman, Sulaman, Mubarak, Qasim, Bilal, Tasawar, Azhar Iqbal, Asad Abbas and others.
