Anti-encroachment drive begins in Peshawar

Cantonment board officials broke down the shutters of several shops during an operation launched against encroachments in Cantt's Shafee Market in Peshawar on Friday.

Hawkers goods lying outside the shops in Shafee Market were also confiscated.

The anti-enroachment drive was met with resistance from shop owners.

Police had to resort to baton charge and aerial firing to disperse the protesting traders. Several people were injured as a result.
