The United States government has provided a state-of-the-art forensics document analyser to the Sindh Police to counter corruption.
According to a press release issued on Friday, Acting Consul General John Warner official handed over the equipment worth Rs12.5 million to the provincial police.
The Video Spectral Comparator 8000 will enable police to identify fraudulent travel and identity documents, banknotes, cheques as well as official letters, the statement read, adding that this was the second such machine to be donated to a Pakistani law-enforcement agency.

“Fighting corruption is a global imperative for the United States, but it starts at the local level,” Warner said at the event. “That is why we are so pleased to support the Sindh Police as they take on the effort to drive out corruption.”
This document analyser is one of the most sophisticated and useful forensic tools available in the world. The US government also sponsored five Sindh's police officers to attend an intensive week-long training session in the United Kingdom on the set-up and use of this equipment last month.
Earlier, last month, the US government had given a document analyser to the National Accountability Bureau.
