Nawab Salahuddin Abbassi launches Bahawalpur Awami Party to work for restoration of provincial status of Bahawalpur.
BAHAWALPUR:
Nawab Salahuddin Abbassi on Thursday launched his own political party called Bahawalpur Awami Party that would work for the restoration of provincial status of Bahawalpur.
He made the announcement at a public gathering at Sadiq Garh palace. He said from now on only those politicians would be successful in Bahawalpur, who were loyal to the cause of provincial status.
He said the demand was in accordance with the promise Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had made with his father, late Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan.
“I will no longer allow thieves and thugs to be the representatives of Bahawalpur. I will give the leadership to people who are the true owners of Bahawalpur,” he said.
He said only Bahawalopur Awami Party would be doing politics in the area because it represented the aspirations of the people.
Senator Mohammad Ali Durrani also spoke at the occasion.
