Top cops in capital remain absent during Eidul Azha

Many officers have gone to perform Hajj; others on personal leave

ISLAMABAD: The bigwigs of the Islamabad police, including the Inspector General, remained absent during Eidul Azha and left junior officers to look after the security situation.

Police sources said that many officers have gone to perform Hajj while a few of them are on personal leave. Moreover, many high-ranking officers are attending training courses within the country and abroad.



The police officers included IGP Khalid Khattak, DIG Headquarters Ashraf Zubair Siddique, DIG Security Waqar Chohan, DIG Operations Mir Vais Niaz, SSP-Operations Sajid Kinai, AIG Special Branch Mulhammad Ilyas, and SP Saddar Hassan Iqbal.

DIG Headquarters, DIG Security, and SSP Operations are in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj while DIG Operations and SP Saddar are attending tranings.

IGP Khattak and SP special branch had also applied for a two-day station leave owing to Eidul Azha whereas AIG special branch was in the United Kingdom for vacation.

Due to the absence of top officers, SSP-Traffic Malik Matloob was first given the additional charge of SSP-Operations. However, after the departure of IGP, Matloob was later tasked with looking after his position as well.

Earlier, DIG Operations Mir Vais Niaz had been given the additional charge of DIG headquarters and security but he himself went to the UK for a training course.

However, no official statement had been released regarding the matter and the police spokesperson could not be reached despite repeated attempts.



Meanwhile, several officers of the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) were also not present in the capital during Eidul Azha. These officers include Deputy Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmed, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Sattar Isani and ICT Director Industries and Labour Muhammad Ali. In their absence, ICT Director Administration Farasat Ali Khan will act as the capital’s deputy commissioner. In addition, Assistant Commissioner Captain (retd) Shoaib Ali has been made the acting charge of additional deputy commissioner.
