“The armed forces [are] fulfilling their responsibilities in far-flung areas [which] is commendable. We will keep rendering our duties with vigour and zeal,” said General Qamar on the second day of Eidul Azha which he spent in Turbat and Gwadar areas of Balochistan.
The army chief also met local people from the areas and greeted them on the occasion. He also met the family of Major Jamal Sheran who embraced martyrdom when militants targeted the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) in Peshawar’s Hayatabad area on July 17.
Army chief spends Eid with troops at Pak-Afghan border
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Qamar vowed that the army would keep assisting in the security and development of Balochistan. “All development projects under way in Balochistan will be completed on time,” he added.
On Saturday, the army chief spent the first day of Eid with the troops securing Pakistan-Afghan border at Rajgal Valley of Khyber Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
The army on August 21 announced the successful completion of its ground offensive – Operation Khyber-IV – in Rajgal Valley, a rugged and difficult terrain that was seen as a key infiltration point for terrorist groups including Da’ish to cross over from neighbouring Afghanistan to Pakistan.
