LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is a sovereign and independent country and its prestige and national honour is most dear.

In a meeting with Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, the chief minister said “vibrant nations face challenges with bravery” and “the existing challenges have created many new opportunities for the nation”.

The challenges, he added, had accorded an opportunity for Pakistan to become a greater state by benefiting from them.

Shehbaz said that no country had the authority to accuse Pakistan or make undue demands in the garb of support.

Shehbaz hits back at charges through legal notices

“Pakistanis have the inherent potential to change their destiny on their own. Hard work, zeal and courage are prerequisites to take the country to the heights of development,” he said, adding that Pakistan’s immortal sacrifices in the war on terrorism had no similitude.

The chief minister said that Pakistan had achieved successes in the war against terrorism and due to sacrifices therein “the country is more prosperous and secure today”.

“Pakistan’s invaluable sacrifices will be written in golden words in the annals of history,” Shehbaz underscored, adding that Pakistan’s sacrifices and steps against terrorism should be fully acknowledged at the global level.

‘We should not make America our enemy’

“We have to fail the nefarious designs of the enemy by maintaining unity in our ranks as it’s time to maintain unity and national cohesion, rather than to divide the nation. All the people are needed to move forward in unison for the sake of the country,” he said.

The CM and the FM also discussed the prevailing situation in the country, political affairs and international issues.
