Women’s club event starts in Peshawar today

Football teams to vie for national event slots.

Frontier College (FC) will lock horns with Striker Club in the opening match of the 4th National Women’s Football Championship that gets underway at the FC Ground in Peshawar today.


FC, who took the limelight after securing a surprise berth in the quarterfinals of last year’s event, will start as favourites against their opponents.

The championship, which concludes on April 27, will be played at five venues in different cities. While the Peshawar leg starts today, Islamabad will start hosting the matches from April 19 and the fixtures in Karachi, Lahore and Quetta will start from April 21.

The second match on the opening day will be played between FATA and Peshawar.

The top two teams from the Lahore and Islamabad zones will take part in the National Women Championship to be held from September 17-30 in Islamabad along with representatives from Quetta, Karachi and Peshawar.
