Chairing a meeting to review recruitment of disabled, he said adequate facilities were being provided to the disabled by the Punjab government and directed the officials to ensure timely payment of their salaries before Eid Ul Adha. Rawalpindi division is ranked top in recruiting disabled in the province, he added.
Talat said steps were being taken to bring disabled in the field of sports so that they could show their abilities.
Job quota for people with disabilities increased to 5%
He said those recruited have been inducted in Education, Agriculture, TMA, Health, Social Welfare, Fatima Jinnah University and Koh i Noor Textile Mills.
In 2015, the Punjab government had approved Rs3.4 billion for five development projects in Rawalpindi.
The projects included the establishment of new blocks at two government colleges, up-gradation of the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and an exclusive recreational park for children with disabilities.
An amount of Rs250 million was allocated to set up the park for children with disabilities, especially deaf and dumb.
